2023 Minor League - ACL(AZ Complex League)

The Only Arizona Complex League Blog

First Pitch is Monday June 5th!

The 2023 ACL kicks off another season and the 2023 campaign rolls out this evening. I am feverishly trying to get this site/blog updated and have some current articles. The talent that will be playing this year is going to be pretty close to what was seen last year. The rosters are loaded up with young international prosepcts. Most played a few seasons in the Dominican Summer League under the auspices of their major league club. If you follow the mlb draft, it will be held in July, just like last year. There are a number of reasons why it was moved. I could give a long rant about why it made sense to move it but, I digress. In my opinion it should have stayed in June. The most exciting thing about the ACL was, you could see a 1st rd pick hit his first professional HR, or a pitcher throw their first professional strike out. With the draft moving to July, most of the high schoolers who would play in the complex leagues, won't be signed in enough time to make their debut. With that said, the other exciting thing to see is internatioanal prospects make their stateside debut. Pitching abroad compared to pitching in 110 degree heat is not easy. There are a ton of teams, I should be at a few per week. FYI it is free!!!

I'll publish my preview/players to watch by this evening.

Bell hit .214, 0 HR, 7 RBI, and 8 XBH, with 12 BB and 13 K. Bell played in 23 of the 31 games that the AFL provides but his showing put him in the bottom third of players in the League. Bell is a Switch Hitter, and it is hard to say which side he performed better from. Bell hit for a lower AVG from the Right but, this is the side he acquired all of his Walks. In addition, Bell totaled 11 of his 13 strikeouts from the right. So, you can decide but, it seems if he can improve his discipline from the right, Bell could be a really explosive switch hitter in the future considering he hit .273 from the left. Bell is the # 29 Overall prospect according to MLB.com and he will probably spend most of the 2015 in AAA ...
